A City Redefining Itself

Grovetown is a city redefining itself. Located in Columbia County, Georgia, adjacent to Fort Gordon, new residential development fuels Grovetown’s conversion from a country crossroads into a community with all of the amenities of a 21st century city. This combination of country charm and modern amenities serves as the basis for why Grovetown proclaims itself as “A Community that Cares.” Grovetown is the largest city and one of only 2 incorporated cities in Columbia County. John Deere is Grovetown’s most notable corporate citizen. Grovetown has seen a significant amount of newer housing growth in recent years. Quite often, new home construction is the result of new residents moving in who are middle class or wealthier, attracted by jobs, a healthy local economy, or other amenities. Approximately 9% of the workforce is employed in the armed forces, making the military a huge focus of life in Grovetown. Even though it is a military town, the civilian sector still plays an important role in the local economy. John Deere Commercial Products, located on Horizon South Parkway, manufactures lawn and garden tractors and home lawn and garden equipment. Grovetown is an extremely ethnically diverse city and according to HomeSnacks, which researches some of the best and worst places to live across the nation, Grovetown is hailed as one of the safest cities in Georgia with only 96 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.
